Rasmus Klump on cups, children's bed linen and storage containers

When we were still children, we dreamed of the great adventures of life and of endless freedom. Maybe that's why we liked the stories about Rasmus Klump (in English Erasmus Klump) so much. Rasmus and his friends were invented by the Danish comic artist Vilhelm Hansen.

The stories surrounding the friendly bear, Pingo the Penguin, Pelle the Pelican and Skæg the Seal were written by Vilhelm and his wife Carla Hansen.

Once around the world with Rasmus Klump

Rasmus Klump travels the entire world with his friends by ship. It all begins when he finds an old steering wheel and uses it to build the sailing boat Mary. On it, the cheerful bear and his friends visit the North Pole, the pyramids and many other places. On their travels around the globe, the jolly group encounters various educational and exciting things. At the end of each adventure, they all stop off at mother Mary Klump's place to eat pancakes together.

It wasn’t just Rasmus and his crew who have travelled countless countries in countless comics and picture books since 1951. The stories themselves were also very popular and could successfully and numerously be translated.

Mette Ditmer turns the comic classic into a motif

Designer Mette Ditmer is known for her typical Scandinavian style, the Danish clarity of her designs and her eye for simple beauty. She herself has known and loved Rasmus Klump and his friends since childhood and is thrilled by the timeless drawings. It only seemed logical to the designer and her identically named company from Silkeborg to make a label out of the bear and to create a collection with motifs from the Erasmus universe for children and admirers alike.

Since 2017, cups, children's bed linen and bathrobes have been launched with great success under the name Rasmus Klump by Mette Ditmer. The nostalgic character with its own theme world in Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens amusement park is, in any case, a long-running hit in children's literature in Denmark. Terrific coin banks, cutlery sets for children and placemats now set out to take the world by storm a third time.

Cups, textiles, placemats – the comic book hero’s world is dominated by few colours

If you expected particularly colourful Rasmus Klump cups, storage containers, bed linen and towels due to the brightly coloured comics in the Erasmus collective volumes, you'll be surprised. Mette Ditmer often arranges the protagonist and his world in black and white. Only the trousers oft the bear and the logo of the label get a little red or blue. The red trousers with white flecks are furthermore used on the reversible bed linen, bathrobes and shower towels. Particularly popular are the children's bed linen, which show a huge scenery of the whole world of Rasmus Klump and his friends on one side and electively the red or blue pattern on the other.
