Lucie Kaas

The Danish company Lucie Kaas was founded in 2013 by Esben Rasmussen Gravlev in Copenhagen. The intention of the young brand is to relaunch old classics from the 1950s and 1960s. Meanwhile Esben also designs own products with a team.

Relaunch of Scandinavian design classics

Esben initially began with the figures of Gunnar Flørning and Th. Skjøde Knudsen as the clown or the elephant and the tableware with the pattern Lotus by Norwegian designer Arne Clausen. The decor was originally produced as dish line from the Danish manufacturer Lyngby Porcelæn and as enamelled cookware series by the Norwegian company Cathrineholm. For example, the successful casserole was sold 150,000 pcs in the time of 1960s which was a huge number at this time in Scandinavia.

In 2014 followed the Boardfolk (table people), a sweet egg cup and pencil holder series made of wood. It is designed as wooden figure container which are beautifully painted. The design is already dating in the 1960s.

Inspired by the world – Scandinavian designed

The elegant jars were followed in 2015 by the Lucie Kaas series Matee. The elaborately decorated jars are originally traditional containers of ceramic workshops in Thailand. Esben discovered these small works during a vacation trip to Thailand in antique shops of art and took some to Denmark with him. His team in Copenhagen was also fascinated, so that the Matee collection was presented for the first time in late summer, 2015.

As a novelty in spring Esben designed a pretty bear family of American walnut.
