Knitwear with tradition and future

Like many Scandinavian brands, Dale of Norway was named after a place. In 1872, Peder Jebsen toured the west coast of the country and landed near the famous city of Bergen. It was here that he saw the perfect spot to build his textile factory. The inhabitants there already showed tremendous craftsmanship in knitting. The fjords and tributaries provided hydropower to operate the looms. And the valley provided easy access to good Norwegian wool. Seven years after Peder's journey, the textile company Dale of Norway was founded, laying the groundwork for today's brand. From the beginning, the goal has been to offer knitwear of exceptional quality at attractive prices. The village soon became home to many skilled workers and many good artisans became good knitters who have been passing on their knowledge of high-quality wool and its processing for generations. To this day, Dale of Norway stands for the highest, Made in Norway quality.

Knits you can rely on

Long, cold winters in Norway and other Scandinavian countries are met with a love for wool and knitwear which continues to this day. The Norwegian jumper kept everyone warm and was always reliable. A high insulating capacity despite breathable fibres and great odour resistance make wool a high-tech material that comes directly from nature. And, of course, this great textile fibre is also suitable for other knitwear. In addition to Norwegian jumpers for women, men, and children, Dale of Norway also produces wonderfully patterned Norwegian jackets, knit dresses, pea coats, scarves, and knit skirts. The traditional patterns of Norwegian knitwear have served as models for many of the newer designs. Some of the details in these designs often dating back centuries have been modernized, creating a wonderful bridge between traditional garments and urban fashions for everyone, as well as between traditional crafts and modern Scandinavian design ideas.

"More than just a jumper..."

When buying quality knitwear, you are buying much more than just a nice jumper, knit dress, or scarf to keep you warm. Philosophy, tradition, and real values stand behind Dale of Norway. By the way, braids, leather appliqués, and the decorative tin clasps on the knitwear also come from Norway. 140 years of expertise go into every stitch and every garment made by Dale of Norway, the official outfitter of the Norwegian national ski team since 1956. Each garment has its own manufacturing history, with a particular emphasis on durability and comfort.
