Morsø home accessories and kitchen gadgets: cutting boards, knives, vases and more

The Morsø brand originally produced pans, doors and window frames when it was founded in 1853. However, the iron foundry on the island of Mors quickly made a name for itself as a stove manufacturer, and shortly after the turn of the century Morsø fireplaces won over many satisfied customers. Christian X. also became aware of the gifted stove builders from the island. As early as 1915, the company was appointed purveyor to the court by the Danish royal court. And even beyond the country's borders, the iron forge became increasingly well-known. Did you know that today it is estimated that every second fireplace in Denmark is a stove from the island of Mors? In addition to modern wood-burning stoves and fireplaces, grills for outdoor use became best-sellers with the introduction of the Grill 71 in 1971. In addition, since 2017, the company has launched products for the Kitchen and Living collections, such as particularly great vases, candle holders and other home accessories.

Back to the roots of a brand

Pots and pans were among the first products to leave the iron foundry in the mid-19th century. And since in the present and in the past it has often been possible to demonstrate a fine sense for functional design that is also visually convincing, it seemed only logical to return to these roots. Since 2017, the brand has been using its sense of quality, manufacturing expertise and good name, especially with regard to sustainable Danish designs, for kitchen utensils as well. In addition to pots and pans, plates, oven dishes and other kitchen utensils now complement the range. The traditional manufacturer also focuses on kitchen knives and cutting boards. But the company also wanted to refine decorative home accessories with the hyggelige Mors&oslash DNA. Shapely candleholders and tealight holders are therefore just as much part of the label's collection as the River, Flame and Bark vases.

Successful relaunch with renowned designers

Morsø attaches great importance to the combination of traditional, Danish design language and mature vertical integration, which always guarantees beautiful, thoughtful and high-quality home accessories and kitchen helpers. So it was not difficult for the company to convince a whole squad of well-known Scandinavian designers to collaborate on Morsø cookware, table accessories, vases and more decorative items. Jakob Wagner, who had already designed numerous accessories for Menu, but is also known for his work for the world-famous Danish hi-fi brand Bang & Olufsen, contributed several ideas at once. These include the oven shape „Kit“, the carafe „No Nonsense“ or various wooden cutting boards and frying utensils. No less in demand should be Klaus Rath. The German industrial designer is known for his many kitchen and home accessories for the Stelton brand, but has also designed for Georg Jensen. It is to him that the young line of kitchenware owes numerous profitöpfe. The cutting tools that match the cookware come from the Copenhagen-based design group Seidenfaden. Decorative it becomes überall, where you put the chic Morsø vases from the pen of Peter Svarrer. The glass virtuoso known as „master of light“ at Holmegaard impressively proves why he is perceived in the landscape of Scandinavian design half as an artist and half as a designer. His River, Flame and Bark vases are independently new and yet works entirely in the manner of a Scandinavian design classic. The vases work as an arrangement or as individual pieces. Each vase is available in different sizes and colors.
