Sonja Djønne and Thoralf Lian are a married couple and founded Heymat in 2016 in Mo i Rana, a town in Norway at the end of the Ranfjord. Thoralf's family has been involved with doormats for three generations, which is why Thoralf knows a thing or two about the right materials for long-lasting robustness. Sonja's knowledge of interior architecture and design brings the concept for a new era of doormats to perfection. She represents the stylish side of the mats, the naturally inspired patterns, and the optical details. It is not only naturalness, that is important to the founding couple, but also sustainability. For example, many of the mats in the current collection – such as in the popular Mix series – are made of 50 % recycled material. The crowning glory of sustainability and naturalness, however, are the doormats in the Heymat+ collection.

That so much beauty can be so sustainable is both surprising and a delight. Heymat+ was created in collaboration with the Oslo-based designer Kristine Five Melvær and impresses with its plain-coloured, slim lines and its dimensional materials which help to remove dirt from your shoes before you enter your home in the best possible way. All Heymat+ doormats are made of 100 % recycled plastic on a non-slip nitrile rubber base. Inspired by Japanese Zen gardens, grass swaying in the wind, or the gentle waves of the fjords, every Heymat doormat conveys a feeling of freedom and movement. Beautiful and useful, both inside and outside

The mats are available in different formats from 35 x 50 cm and 60 x 85 cm up to 85 x 115 cm. Heymat+ mats are shown off to their best advantage in the size 60 x 90 cm.
