Flensted Mobiles - the mobile expert from Denmark

Christian Flensted tinkered on the occasion of the baptism of his daughter in 1953 a first mobile, from which ultimately the idea for all subsequent Flensted Mobiles should grow. Three generations have been occupied with the idea of perfectly balanced and visually sophisticated mobiles, since then the Flensted family has questioned and improved materials, principles and production depths a hundred times over. The mobile has been interpreted in a thousand elaborate ways, so that to this day it not only delights children, but also fascinates adults, makes fun and gives peace. After 27 years with Christian at the helm, son Ole and his wife Aase Flensted followed as business managers of the family business.

Many times unique

Although it may be a small company – at Mobiles, the company is quite large; and known as the world's leading supplier of these balanced decorative highlights. Unusual for a German company is the high export share, which is over 90%. Mobiles in this form, variety and quality are unique in the world. However, the traditional company on the island of Fünen in Denmark does not only manufacture for the masses. World brands and global corporations such as Microsoft, Michelin and Bayer have also turned to the company to order individual mobiles as truly unique items. But even without customization, every private customer is sure to find what they are looking for in view of the extensive product range: From Niels Bohr's atomic model to flying sticks and abstract shapes, Flensted has probably already turned everything into a mobile. The ideas seem endless. The seemingly fragile constructions tell stories of juggling clowns, seals with colorful balls on their noses, or rolling elephants. At Flensted, the mobile has not only grown up, but also become an adult. Not all variants are aimed at children. Seriöse mobiles such as birds or fish swarm in their quiet circles or boats float relaxed on swaying fäden. A little movement or even a slight gust of wind is enough to set the colorful hustle and bustle in motion and to be able to observe it. Of course, we also have Mobiles for Christmas and Easter for you ready!

Handmade in Denmark

The Flensted family still lives and works in an old and beautiful school building, which the company moved into shortly after it was founded. There the suspensions and some decorative elements are manufactured, managed, material is ordered, stored, creations are shipped and designed. The small works of art (which can also be very large) are assembled by many do-it-yourselfers on trays. They also pack the finished products in beautiful gift boxes. From the old school, they are then shipped all over the world.

Special highlights are the Mobile Flowing Rhythm from 1955 and Futura from 1970, both by founder Christian Flensted. His son Ole designed the company's best-selling Balloons in 1979 – Ole is himself an avid balloonist. Until the mobiles are balanced and working, sometimes many years of work are needed.
