The most important Marimekko designer Maija Isola designed the pattern Nimikko in 1985. Nimikko is a sister pattern of Ujo. Ujo was designed in 1982 by Fujiwo Ishimoto. Both patterns are the base of the most popular bath collection by the Finnish cult brand. Nimikko means title. Because titles are always written in bold letters, the pattern also has fat stripes and is used for the larger parts in the collection like terry bath towels and if applicable bathrobes or beach towels. Ujo' meansthe shy, for the pattern it means thinner stripes. The pattern Ujo Marimekko use towels, guest towels and washcloths.
