Buy the famous Iittala Raami - New classic for the well-laid table

Companies like Iittala are preserving the inheritance of their own company’s history and in the case of the well-known Finnish glassworks, a great deal of Scandinavian design timeline as well. Featuring the series Iittala Raami, English designer Jasper Morrison has managed to create a new, independent design, which, thanks to its authentic lines, still ties in with the traditions of a functional Scandinavian design.

Reduced forms of an extensive tableware series

Raami sticks to the most relevant aspects, which designer Jasper Morrison wanted to be perfect in each and every detail. The tableware series for the everyday table is clean and honest, supposed to bring a familiar-open feeling to the table. At first glance, it’s not really obvious that the plates, glasses and cups actually belong together, yet when laid out, they form a unity, providing the framework for a charming get-together in a familiar atmosphere. The collection’s name shows as well that finding the right framework has been an ultimate goal from the start on: Raami is a finnish word and means frame in English.

Jasper Morrison - instinctive design

"Creating a pleasant atmosphere is a human instinct that plays an important role when it comes to improving the quality of our everyday lives." This is the philosophy; the versatile Londoner has followed in order to create the designs for Raami. Born in 1959, the designer, author and photographer is known as one of the most universal designers of his generation. Following the tradition of industrial designer Dieter Rams or Bauhaus artist Max Bill, Jasper has found his own individual style which is displayed in numerous designs for furniture, dishes, electrical appliances, lighting and much more.

Savouring some downtime in the morning, at noon, in the evening

Raami makes for a nearly complete littala tableware series, suitable for any meal, a cosy cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. Central elements are made of resilient porcelain, glass and wood. A colourful accent is added by the collection’s glasses that are available in moss green, sea blue (littala’s colour of the year 2019). The glasses’ ribbed pattern makes for a structural accent and harmonizes with the matching decanter.

The collection’s white plates make for a particularly elegant detail. Since they are supposed to be a fit for any occasion, they come in 4 different sizes.  In addition to flat plates with 17, 20 or 27 cm diameter, Iittala also features a deep plate of 22 cm diameter. The deliberately calming and minimalist lines that Jasper Morrison has implemented in cups and bowls are especially noticeable within the plates‘ design. It is particularly underlined by the oak serving boards. The series is complemented by elegant white wine, red wine and champagne glasses.
