Iittala - Sarjaton

Sarjaton has been strongly influenced and shaped by Finnish traditions, with the concept and design for the range firmly rooted in folklore and artisan rituals. Embossed patterns based on traditional basket braids, embroidery motifs and the forest that covers half of Finland, deliver a handcrafted feeling that invites you to touch. While modern life has made us crave for an authentic feeling, the Sarjaton collection takes us back to the way things were made before. The real way.
The Sarjaton design process has been dedicated to creating characteristic objects that offer endless possibilities. Whether it's a warming mug of coffee on a rainy morning, a cheeky cabernet on the sofa, or a complete dinner party, Sarjaton moves effortlessly between casual and formal settings.Use your imagination to create your own composition, simply by mixing and matching patterns, materials and colours. Be bold; the most unexpected combination could be the one you grow to like the most.
Sarjaton has been designed and crafted to fit our constantly changing lifestyles where rituals have become more important. The designers looked to place less emphasis on traditional tableware, focusing closely on creating objects for our unique needs. The soft shapes and pure lines of Sarjaton blend simplicity and familiarity to sit perfectly on your table and in your hand. And the sophisticated form alongside the calmness of white, is timeless. It’s a combination that caters to the everyday and your relaxed moments.
From 'Metsä' meaning forest, 'Letti' meaning braid, to 'Tikki' meaning stitch, each Sarjaton pattern has been crafted to embrace imperfection and create individuality. The nature and colour of old textiles also gave inspiration for the collection’s earthy tones of mud, red clay, pearl grey and old rose. Compatible patterns with a calming effect, the Sarjaton range gives you the freedom to play around with pieces to complement your personal tastes.
