Fiskars - a Finnish world group

Fiskars was founded in 1649 by the Dutch Peter Thorwöste in the homonymous village in southern Finland. Initially, the company manufactured nails, hoes and alloy wheels and was known for the outstanding quality of steel.

The era Julin characterized the range

In 1822, the chemist Johann Jacob Julin bought the company and began the scissor production. The production of plowing reached to its peak (up to 1 million per year) in the early 1930s. In the 1960s, the production of plastic was launched and introduced the legendary ergonomic grip for scissors. Furthermore, a boat manufacturer was taken over. Later, Fiskars product portfolio also included cookware and cutlery as well as then the gardening equipment and tools for the garden.

Fiskars and the Iittala Group

In 2007 the industrial trust overtook the Iittala Group which is consisting of brands Iittala, Hackman, Arabia, Rörstrand, and Höganäs Keramik. In particular, the Hackman brand was the strongest competitor in the field of cookware for Fiskars in the Nordic home markets. In the 1990s, Hackman bought the famous design brands Iittala, Arabia and Rörstrand. Through this acquisition of the design companies the result brought higher quality products in the assortment of Hackman.  Also the acquisition process led the company to design new series in the end of 1990s by the designers Björn Dahlström and Harri Koskinen. Björn Dahlström designed the high-quality series Tools with the unique compound material. The series is offered till this day in the collection of Finnish design brand Iittala. Harri Koskinen designed the cookware series All Steel for the daily use. The series was initially offered as Hackman product. It was incorporated into the collection of Iittala for restructuring the group in 2005. In 2014, the series was completely revised and a new ceramic coating was introduced. Furthermore, some parts with 5-layer material are offered under the name All Steel+. From 2014 to 2015, the series again belonged to the collection of the brand Hackman and since late summer 2015 belongs to the collections of the brand Fiskars.

The cookware series Hard Face is one of the most popular cookware series in Scandinavia.
