Applicata Shop

René Lot founded his company Applicata with his wife Mette in 2012 in Rønde near Aarhus. René has already come from a family where he had contact to work independently. He became active in the distribution of home accessories after his schooling and training. After a few years he started his own business as a commercial agent and importer for Denmark. Several times he introduced successfully and with dedication young companies in the Danish market. Generally, when an agent makes a very good job to sale brand products to market then those brands get the introduction or link to sale their own products directly to the market. As a result brands don’t need any agent or media any more. René Lot experienced often the situation by the cancellation of his contract from those brands with whom he worked as an agent. This reality gave him the motivation to build up his own collection. He already had the contact with wood and craftsmanship in his childhood. So he set out with his wife to find fresh young designers and manufacturing operations in Denmark and Sweden. He visited for the first time in 2012 the exhibition Formland in Herning after he had built up a small collection with the help of the designers Anne Boysen and Anders Nørgaard. This fair is the most important exhibition for gifts and tableware all over Denmark. René and Mette attained the Formland design award with the houses of Arch You designed by Anne Boysen. The candlestick series Blossom was immediately a bestseller in Denmark. Then later followed the popular mushrooms Funghi by Trine Find and Anders Nørgaard mutated to the main designer. He designed the vase and candlestick series Torso, the vases series Poppy and the beautiful candelstick wreath Luna. Rene won the successful designer Hans Sandgren Jakobsen in 2013 on a draft for a simple, neutral but also decorative coat hooks – Nipple was born. In 2014 René and Mette with their young label visited for the first time the world wide leading fair Ambiente in Frankfurt. René and Mette carefully develop their small collection and also continue to attach importance with manufactured products in Scandinavia.
